M83 the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy in the southern constellation of Hydra. M83 is located 15 million light years from us and is like our own Galaxy, the Milky Way. Using a small telescope M83 will appear as a faint fuzzy patch and with a larger telescope a bright core and faint spiral arms will be visible.
